Paul Bannister, set design extraordinaire for the BBC’s Question Time and my tutor, mentor and friend at the University of Bedfordshire.
Always remembered for his immense knowledge of all things media; never forgotten for the laughs, inspiration and enthusiasm imparted on us mere students.
Barely 60 years old and cruelly taken by the meanest of incurable diseases.
Rest in peace.

So sad to hear. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to visit him in hospital – puts things into perspective. Nicely put though Stu and of course, best wishes to his family. Will always be remembered.
Really sad to hear, I didn’t visit but sent him a card/letter letting him know what all of us have been up to.
He was a remarkable man and very supportive to all his students. He encouraged everyone to reach for all opportunities that are on offer and definitely without his support I wouldn’t be in the position I am today.
He will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
Well done Stuart for putting this on here. xx
An email received from Sarah Bannister, Paul’s daughter:
“Thank you for your lovely tribute for my dad. I was just looking him up on google and I found your site, its nice to know that other people will miss him too.”
An email received from Paul Barnes, Paul’s school friend:
“I am interested in sending my condolences and love to my former school buddie’s family; 45 years ago we sat side by side in West Mon GS, class 4M. I have been in France and missed important events:we shaped each-other’s lives!!
Love, Paul”
I was looking up old children television programs from the UK for my new baby Claire,( I live in the US now) when I came across the tribute site for my Uncle Paul. This really makes me happy to know he’s remembered and cherished by everyone who knew him.
I was a student of Paul Bannister’s, graduated back in 2006. I always put his name down for academic references when applying for jobs. I have been in work for 3 years but now looking again so I decided to update his contact details when I came across this website. I was stunned, he was so young and when I think about it now he had a positive impact on my outlook on life. He was brilliant teacher and will be missed very much.
